4000 KG of illegally caught catfish and carp was found by Policia Nacional

A criminal network fro Romania, dedicated to fishing and illegal trafficking of carp and catfish to eastern European markets, has been rolled up in Spain.

In the operation seven people have been arrested and four tons of freshly caught catfish have been intervened.

The poachers where caught the in the Ebro river basin with prohibited gear such as electricity or illegal nets.

The 4000 KG of catfish was stored in in precarious conditions of health and cleaned the product with bleach to lose the smell of rot that accompanied it. This causes a serious risk to the health of consumers.

The operation has been developed with the collaboration of EUROJUST, the Rural Agents of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Interior Attaché of Romania of Spain and Police officers of Romania, displaced to Spain.
